Cape Town, South Africa – 21 March 2025 – Africa Matters Initiative (AMI) announces the rescheduled dates for the Africa Matters Summit, now set for 1–2 August 2025 in Kigali, Rwanda. This milestone event, themed Celebrating Impact, Igniting Futures, will commemorate a decade of transformative youth leadership while emphasising the essential role of intergenerational collaboration in building Africa's future.
Drawing inspiration from the West African Adinkra philosophy of Sankofa, which calls for reflection on the past to move forward, and the Luo proverb “Alone a youth runs fast, with an elder slow, but together they go far,” this summit will highlight the power of collective action across generations. It will reflect on the remarkable achievements of African youth over the past decade, while fostering dialogue and collaboration between young leaders and seasoned changemakers.
The summit will bring together up to 250 participants, including emerging leaders, influential changemakers, and global stakeholders. It will spotlight innovation across key sectors—technology, healthcare, climate action, financial inclusion, creative industries, education, and governance—showcasing how African youth are pioneering impactful solutions to local and global challenges. From Rwanda’s AI-powered healthcare breakthroughs to Ghana’s climate-resilient agriculture initiatives, the event will honour the remarkable achievements of African and diasporan changemakers who are leading the way toward a brighter future.
Recognising the value of intergenerational collaboration, the summit will also provide a platform for dialogue between youth and experienced leaders. This will allow for the exchange of ideas, knowledge and strategies to strengthen partnerships that amplify impact and accelerate transformative action. As we celebrate Africa Matters’ remarkable journey, we stand on the threshold of a new era—one where collaboration between the past and future generations drives Africa’s continued success and growth in entrepreneurship and innovation.
"For the past decade, AMI has been empowering African youth to become leaders and entrepreneurs who are shaping their own futures," said Reanne Olivier, CEO and Co-Founder of Africa Matters Initiative. "This summit will be a celebration of their journey, and a call to action for the next generation of changemakers to harness their entrepreneurial spirit and continue driving innovation across the continent."
Attendees will leave with:
Actionable insights from Africa’s leading changemakers
Opportunities for cross-generational and cross-sector collaboration
Expanded networks in key industries such as technology, healthcare, climate action, financial inclusion, education, and the creative economy
Practical tools and strategies to scale their impact locally and globally
